THE OBVIOUS THINGS
Humans know they are overstimulated but refuse to disconnect.
Despite decades of research linking excessive screen time to anxiety, depression, and impaired attention spans, humans continue to engage with their devices at unprecedented levels, often claiming they “need” the constant connectivity to stay informed and productive. Even as they express a desire for mindfulness and mental well-being, they remain glued to social media feeds, streaming services, and notification pings, often multi-tasking between several devices. The irony is palpable; they seek moments of peace while simultaneously crafting their own chaos, prioritizing the dopamine hit of a “like” over genuine human interaction. This collective behavior reveals a paradox where they are fully aware of the negative consequences of their habits yet remain unwilling to take the simple, actionable steps necessary to create a healthier digital balance. The truth is that they know this overstimulation is detrimental, yet they continue to indulge in it, as if it’s a sacred ritual that cannot be questioned.
